During this three-day Summit, TCiNN will bring together health, education, built environment, faith, conservation, and community leaders to shape an even brighter future for the children of Texas. Over 250 community leaders from across the state will gather to strengthen the network and develop opportunities and policies that will connect more children and families in nature. New this year: special, private film screening of Deep in the Heart and informative half-day workshops are included in your registration.
Human rights and environmental justice issues are a platform for teaching youth the importance of knowing local environmental conditions in outdoor education settings. Using simple strategies and inexpensive materials, children and young adults can perform outdoor environmental data collection activities to learn about local human rights and environmental justice issues. The pedagogy promoted in this workshop is consistent with local and national teaching standards and adds equity, diversity, and inclusion to the curriculum. In this hands-on workshop, participants will be guided through the processes behind adding human rights or environmental justice issues to environmental monitoring activities.
